SEXUAL ABUSE AND SEXUAL HARASSMENT ZERO TOLERANCE POLICY
In keeping with the Prison Rape Elimination Act (PREA) of 2003, the Jerome County Detention Center has a ZERO TOLERANCE policy against sexual abuse and is committed to respecting and protecting the rights of its inmate population. An inmate has the right against being pressured by anyone to engage in sexual acts and does not have to tolerate sexually abusive behavior or pressure to engage in unwanted sexual behavior from another inmate, staff member, contractor, or volunteer. Regardless of the detainee’s age, size, race, ethnicity, gender, or sexual orientation, he/she has the right to be safe from sexually abusive behavior. Inmates are encouraged to immediately report allegations of sexually abusive behavior through any of the following avenues:
1. To a staff member.
2. Submitting a medical kite and/or reporting it to medical staff.
3. Submitting grievance.
4. Calling a friend or family member outside the facility that can contact detention administration at (208)595-3360.
5. Call the jail rape reporting hotline.
6. To volunteers or clergy.
