A Public Administrator is for the following types of estates:
- The estates where no personal representative is appointed
- The estates where there is no known heir
- The estates ordered by the State of Idaho Human Resource Department
Responsibilities
- Makes an inventory of all estates taken into possession
- Personal property of the deceased is liquidated
- Pays funeral expenses, expenses of the last illness, administrative expenses, and creditors of the decedents if they file a claim
- After a final settlement of estate, the public administrator sends the remaining funds to the State of Idaho, if there are no heirs or claimants
