A Public Administrator is for the following types of estates:

• The estates where no personal representative is appointed
• The estates where there is no known heir
• The estates ordered by the State of Idaho Human Resource Department

Responsibilities

• Makes an inventory of all estates taken into possession
• Personal property of the deceased is liquidated
• Pays funeral expenses, expenses of the last illness, administrative expenses, and creditors of the decedents if they file a claim
• After a final settlement of estate, the public administrator sends the remaining funds to the State of Idaho, if there are no heirs or claimants
